JAWS is installed on all computers in UA’s Office of Student Computing Resources computer labs, in the DRC’s technology lab, and in the University Libraries. Now low vision and blind clients of the 24/7 can use JAWS (Job Access With Speech) Tandem, an included feature of JAWS, to allow 24/7 support technical consultants remote access to their desktops and be able to hear the actions taking place. However the remote desktop system used for most 24/7 clients does not provide an audible description of what is happening on the screen for blind members of the campus community. The technical consultant can then see exactly what the client is seeing, and even make corrections to solve the issue via the remote view of the desktop. ![]() Clients do not need to bring their computer to the 24/7, but can instead share their screen over the internet with their 24/7 technical consultant. ![]() The 24/7 IT Support Center provides remote desktop support to members of the UA community to solve computer problems. This support has been made available with assistance from the Disability Resource Center (DRC).
